What we do
Our website and app aren’t just digital products that are seen and used by millions of customers, they’re relied upon by Australians across the country. That makes for a great responsibility and an exciting challenge. Through research, testing and analytics we solve the problems and build the solutions that answer our customers’ expectations. Whoever they are, wherever they are.
Life as a team member
For an insider’s view on life in the Product team, we caught up with Selina Blair Holt who’s a Product Manager.
My role is about helping Coles to make the most of tactical opportunities – by finding tactical solutions. Because we’re going through an exciting period of change here, the improvements we make can quickly become outdated and we have to work in agile ways to test, learn and keep on delivering. By bringing the right people together, I make sure we do that. Whether we’re making a small change to a huge website or creating a brand new product from scratch, ultimately, I’m responsible for making sure we achieve our vision.
Coles has always been a very welcoming kind of place, but you can see that very clearly now. Our ongoing transformation means that we’re attracting new people with new ideas and there’s a real appetite for change. Collaboration between different departments is better than it’s ever been. There’s a diversity of skill that’s incredibly enriching, from both a personal and product perspective. We’re able to feed into each other’s projects and benefit from each other’s’ expertise in a much more tangible way. All of which makes for a more positive cultural experience.
We’ve always been a huge brand, capable of making a huge impact. Literally, the changes we make can affect a huge proportion of the population. Now we’re also focused on streamlining what we do and making the customer experience more convenient and accessible. Because the solutions we’re creating are becoming more and more cohesive and omni-channel friendly, more of our customers can make informed decisions about what they purchase, when and why.
“We’ve always been a huge brand, capable of making a huge impact. But by making our solutions more cohesive and omni-channel, we’re now helping our customers make more informed decisions about what they purchase, when and why.”
– Selina Blair Holt, Product Manager
Our Recruitment Process
We appreciate that making an application can be stressful so we've worked hard to make the process as easy as we can.
Here’s how it works:
Apply for a role by submitting your resume and personal details and answering a few easy eligibility questions.
If it looks like you could be good fit for the role, one of our Talent Acquisition team members will set up a time for a call to discuss the position and your suitability further.
At the 1st stage interview you’ll get the chance to meet the team and learn more about life at Coles. At the same time, we’ll look to understand more about you, your experience, and relevant skillsets.
Depending on the role, you may be required to complete an assessment task. One of the Talent Acquisition team will outline this process for you.
Additional interviews give you further opportunities to get to know the leaders or key stakeholders you would be working with, and ask any final questions you have about the position, the team and the organisation.
Once you have been identified as the preferred candidate and receive a verbal offer, you will be required to complete pre-employment checks. These include, working rights, criminal history, and employment verification.
Welcome to Coles! Having signed your contract, you’ll go through onboarding and your line manager will be in touch with you before you start to discuss arrangements for your first day.
